さて、半年が過ぎてどう思ったのか。40代に入っての初転職、2024年の1番のチャレンジでしたが、やはり挑戦してよかったです。英語を書く練習になるので、今後も仕事のことは英語で書こうかなと思いました。

Dealing with a Tight Schedule
Work is still as challenging as ever, and tasks continue to fall behind the original plan. I’ve come to believe that the issue lies more in the initial planning than with the team itself. That said, we’re committed to giving our best effort in everything we take on. My team and I are fully focused on tackling the workload every day. Communication within the team has steadily improved, which has been a big relief. On the other hand, negotiations with clients and vendors remain a blend of tension and excitement, and I still find them both challenging and enjoyable.

Finding a Solution to Long Working Hours
To address the issue of long working hours, I decided to be upfront with my supervisor. Balancing work with my family life is crucial to me, so I clearly expressed that extended hours are not sustainable in the long run. While there hasn’t been an immediate improvement, simply being heard and having my concerns acknowledged has brought me a sense of relief and reassurance.

Reunion with Former Colleagues
At the end of December, I attended a year-end gathering with my former colleagues. Given the current state of my job, I wasn’t exactly eager to share every detail. However, I was surprised to feel no sense of regret or envy about leaving my previous role. I didn’t feel jealous of their promotions, either. Reflecting on my time in my previous company, I realized that I had been emotionally drained from the relationships there and overly focused on establishing my presence within the organization.

Now, having moved on, I feel liberated from carrying the weight of that company’s reputation on my shoulders. This transition has made me realize how much freedom I have gained in this new chapter of my career.

Self-Growth and the Confidence Toward Independence After Changing Jobs
Six months have passed since I changed jobs, and while there are still many aspects I haven’t fully resolved, there has been a significant transformation for me. One of the biggest changes is that I’ve started to feel freed from the company and more independent as an individual.” While I didn’t make as much progress in terms of gaining more authority as I had hoped, what stood out more was the sense of freedom I’ve gained. I’ve broken free from the constraints of my previous job, and now that I have a clearer sense of my own direction, I’ve become more determined to “become independent by the age of 50.”

Being able to solidify this goal and commit to moving forward step by step is undoubtedly the greatest achievement of my career change. From here on, no matter what challenges I face, I’m committed to keeping this goal in mind and working toward it every day.
